Let it Snow....Lorenzo and Eliza

I know that Joseph Smith had lots of wives....
I wonder how many brothers-in-law he had.
Lorenzo would have been one of them, right?

It says here that he lived in Mantua (man o wa)
but he went to high school here in Ravenna. That's
about an 8.5 mile trek in the Lorenzo SNOW boys
and girls.

Take a look at the map. I am going to try to add a
little tidbit from church history from the area every
Sunday. There will be a test at Christmas. This
week, it's one of the good guys...next Sunday...one of
the local bad boys. ;-)

Green scales falling like rain around here.....

I left for work with a little tear in my eye this morning.
How many performers are known for tunes as ubiquitous as Puff? And (thank you bob) this one.

And how many 50+ guys fell in love with that long blond
willowy look after the camera finally got past those 2
goofy looking guys?! She was all about social justice,
so I am going to picture her singing for the 4 Kennedy
boys today. Mary Travers 1936-2009

I miss my loved ones so.

USC at The Ohio State

It was a weekend of discovery. Ancient bars and and a few ancient patrons (ahem...that would be alumni) mingled with a dominant crowd of Kent Staters turned Buckeyes watchin' the first big game in Big 10 land. I found a place with old and young to watch (in flat HD no less) a redux of what I first watched with my USC father in black and white plus static. The Buckeyes were Buckin' down in Columbus, but Tommy Trojan had the last laugh. As for this Tommy....well, lets just say I was wantin' a win for the local red clads, but thinkin' the old Trojan was smilin' down on us all to be sure.

Not fish bait

So, speaking of time off with grandkids, can you even recognize this one? Krista and Bim took me fishing for my birthday in 07 when Little was just 6 months....I think this was just before I gave her back to her dad and she barf-ed all over he. Timing is ever thing, nes pas? จริง (true).

Long ago and far away......

If I am going to do a blog, I think I would like to have it serve as a journal, of sorts. I don't have time to do a journal AND a blog, so I may delve back into the past from time to time to supplement what is going on in the N O W. As I think about it, the only bloggers that I know that knew the guy in this picture are fab 50s and doin' the laundry.

Define irony. I meet ThatNat...a lovely, beautiful, smart, no nonsense woman to start a future with and here I am in O hi O surrounded by images and feelings from the past. At the time this picture was taken in NE Thailand, the US was carpet bombing Cambodia. Thirteen Kent State students had been shot 5 miles from here by their own countrymen 2 years earlier while protesting our involvement in that sad little country. Four of them died and Neil Young wrote the song that is #1 on my playlist. In Thailand I was trying to teach people who were happy as Buddhists about a white American who started a religion that came into it's own about 10 miles to the north of this spot. The week I arrived here in July, former sec of defense Robert McNamara died. It's all a little spooky to me. Fortunately, I am familiar with one aspect of things here in Ohio. My work. I thought I was done with hospitals. Turns out, I just needed a 3 year break. Time to break ties with Oregon, get to know my grandchildren and find Natalie. Easy, right? Integrating clinical hospital systems is nothin' in comparison.
